Why one sellers sell more than others? Of course, there a plenty of arguments like good marketing tactics, improved social media network and so on. These are helpful of course, but what should be considered as the most important part is representing your product. For doing it good, you don’t have to be a professional photographer, but more of the strategic person, who think about what customer wants to see. So here Oficina da Marca blog collect the most important advices for showing off your picture through photography.

See also: Why you should care about the images on social media

Product photography

With so many items on market nowadays, photography could really help you to stand-out in the crowd and make people to by your items instead of higher quality once or less expensive.

Details and audience

Describe your targeted customer and think what he wants to see: detail, quality, functions. Also think what you would like to see, if you were a buyer. What is the most important to him and accentuate that. Do you sell prints? Show them framed on a wall. Do sell an iPad cover? Show how and iPad fits inside!

Unique details

Show your unique product’s details that set you apart from any other your market competitor. Don’t leave out these details in your photos. These are the things you will mention in the description of your items that will impress the customer.

Lightning

The rule number one – don’t use flash. The best light is the day light, but very sunny can also be harmful. It’s good thing to use a light box. And you can make it buy yourself – there are plenty of tutorials how to make it at home.

Perspective

Show your product from different angles: front, back, up close, further away, just move around with your camera. Don’t leave a customer wondering, because that leaves them room to find an alternative from another shop.

Background

Be careful that you item don’t have to compete with a background. So better avoid those flower-printed sheets and use neutral colors for your background. Remember that when customer will come to your online shop, it should be an attractive, cohesive collection that shows your items are high quality and intentional.

Her passion lies in creating new worlds through photographs, a passion which was recently recognized by Academy award-winning director Ron Howard when he chose her work as part-inspiration for a short film in Canon’s
Imagin8tion competition. Her vision extends beyond the realm of the camera, creating images that resemble paintings and speak of an era that is not our own. Each image is a story.

All photographers have trained the mind to see inspiration in any situation. The book Inspiration in Photography: Training your Mind to Make Great Art a Habit through the unique look of Brooke shows how.

The book presents techniques and exercises we can do to be inspired every day , anywhere .
The truth is that all artistic photographers seeking a specific style , but is not always easy to know how to get there. This book is the perfect balance between knowledge and education to help you find inspiration when needed

The book is an incentive to search for inspiration whether it be a chair, a flashlight or tissue box. With this book Brooke wants to make us understand that life is a series of stories, places and people, and that is what makes a photographer when captures a moment, tells a story. Inspiration is everywhere and Brooke knowledge is a plus to have that look on things and moments.

“Just because someone does not naturally feel inspired to create avant-garde masterpieces every day does not mean that he or she lacks creativity. It means that he or she is creative in a different way (…) “To come up against a problem during a project – be it an obstacle or a desire – and then figure out a way to resolve the issue; that is being creative.” – Brooke Shaden in Ezra Magazine

“I believe that figuring out your personal style of photography, or art in general, is the number one thing that will not only set you apart from the crowd, but will set you on a path to being personally fulfilled. Style can be a very daunting thing to define, because we are diverse people as well as artists. Whether you shoot fine art, portraits, fashion, or street, having a recognizable style is essential for understanding how you need to visually interpret your inspiration.” says Brooke Shaden.

“They are like one of us.
Or rather, we aspire to be like them.”

Origami mask by Francesca Lombardi.

With a love for the textural and the absurd, Italian photographer Giacomo Favilla and designerFrancesca Lombardi team up to create the series One of Us. Titled ‘‘One of Us’’, the project consists of black and white portraits of people sitting in a vintage armchair, while wearing beautiful origami masks.

Their poses are full of an austere Victorianism, ever unknowable and out of reach. Declaring that the “other” is more similar than we would like to believe, One of Us is a surreal hybrid of both man and beast.

With the intention creating an impression of an imaginary world, where animal and human natures blend together as one, each mask has been laboriously folded over and over again to resemble a different animal. Be the animal a puma, a rabbit, a crocodile or a cat – they all take their turn in ‘‘being the face,’’ be that temporarily, of a person sitting to have their photo taken where their most striking feature is the fact that they have no eyes – they are in fact stylised blindfolds in the shape of animals.

Cultural codes, ideological discourse, and rhetorical processes have been acknowledged as influences on consumers relationships with advertising, brands and massmedia. If brands exist as cultural, ideological, and rhetorical objects, then researchers require tools developed to understand culture, ideology and rhetoric, embracing more typical branding concepts, such as equity, strategy, and value.

A photograph should evoke emotion at first glance. There are many elements that must come together in a photography to build a consistency concept of brand.

“Build”, not “take”

Photography have to be thought as something you must build. Your tools are light, shadows, environment, subject matter, story, and composition.

In photography, loving the art form is also not enough. One most work at it and train to be a visual storyteller. It requires a different mindset to tell a story using only photographs. Photographers may love photography, but in order to make our cameras an extension of our vision, we must be technically proficient using our tools. Being a quick draw is of upmost importance in order to capture key moments.

Good exemples of advertising photography

Adidas

Based on the insight that a whole nation is behind the performance of athletes at the Olympics, the campaigns features several athletes from around the world. Here are 3: Russian polevaulter Jelena Isinbajeva: “Alone I jump. Together we soar”, Chinese Taipei Taekwondo athlete Chu Mu-Yen: “No one gets up when a whole country kicks.” and USA sprinter Tyson Guy: “Ever seen a nation fly?”

Louis Vitton

Photographed by the renowned Annie Leibovitz, this campaign spells class all the way through. Part of the Louis Vitton Journeys campaign, the other celebrities include Catherine Deneuve, Keith Richards, Sofia Coppola and her father Francis Ford Coppola and Mikhail Gorbachev.

Reminded me of several such features & portraits done by Annie for the Rolling Stone Magazine. Incidentally, Annie has shot a few advertising campaigns including the famous American Express campaign in the ’80s.

Lunch atop a Skyscraper, taken originally in 1932 by Charles C. Ebbets has been an inspiration for several campaigns (including one for Friends, the TV Show).

This won an award at the Epica Awards, in 2005. It’s not hard to see why.

Goodbye Innocence is the insightful claim for the clothing line for teens. Awesome detailing in these ads.

High end fashion advertising relies so much on unconventional photography. The ads here, appear like works of art.
